The Department of Tourism Guidance, which was opened at Adıyaman University Faculty of Tourism, which was established with the decision numbered 2014/6728 published in the Official Gazette on 26.08.2014, started to admit students in the 2018 - 2019 Academic Year.
The education period is four years and the academic staff of the department is Assoc. Prof. from the Field of Tourism Science. In addition, some of our Faculty Members have a National Tourist Guide License and License, as well as industry experience in the field of Tourist Guiding. German (S), Russian (S) and English (E) courses included in the curriculum of our department are carried out by lecturers who are experts in their fields from other units of our university. 7 classrooms and a computer laboratory used in education and training services constitute the physical capacity of our department.
General admission requirements valid for Turkish and foreign students are sufficient to be accepted and start the program. Students are accepted to our department with the LANGUAGE Score of the YKS exam held by ÖSYM. Our quota consists of 40 and one (1) quota reserved for the top students.
Students who graduate from the department receive the title of "Tourism Guidance Undergraduate Program Graduate". In order to be able to work as a National or Regional Licensed Tourist Guide, the foreign language levels of our students studying and/or graduating from this department must be determined and practical training trips must be completed.
Having received at least 75 points from YDS (Foreign Language Exam) or equivalent to this exam, T.R. Students must pass the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam held every year by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. They will be able to work as a National Tourist Guide if they have completed at least 36 (in practice 45) days of domestic practice tour carried out by TUREB (Tourist Guides Association). Students who have passed the specified exams and completed the practice trip for at least six days (8 in practice) will be able to work as Regional Tourist Guides.
Graduates will be able to work as instructors in a program related to their field at any university, provided that they meet the necessary conditions in the Academic Personnel and Graduate Education Entrance Examination (ALES) and Foreign Language Examination (YDS), as well as having industry experience that will create an additional advantage for them. Graduates of the department can also be employed as teachers in Public Education Centers or secondary education programs related to their fields if they have sufficient scores from the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS). They will have employment opportunities in the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorates and Information Offices, Museums and Archaeological Sites when they get sufficient scores from the Public Personnel Selection Examination (KPSS).
The requirements for graduating from the department include completing the 240 ECTS in the department curriculum with a GPA of at least 2.00 and fulfilling the 30-day internship requirement. The 36-day Turkey Tour, which is required by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism as a field of practice for the profession in order to issue a Tourist Guide License and Identity, is also considered as an internship.
